Impounded Van Insurance FAQs

Why do I Need Impounded Van Insurance?

If your van is impounded by the police, your regular insurance won’t allow you to retrieve it. You need specialist insurance to properly cover you.

Can I have a single day of cover?

The smallest period of Impounded Van Insurance we can insure you for is 30 days. This is usually the minimum that impounds ask you be covered for. Shorter periods of impounded cover are often not enough to get your vehicle back.

Can I have a named driver on an impounded policy?

Only the named owner and keeper of the vehicle can be covered on an impounded policy.

I can’t drive – how can I get my van back?

You might not be able to drive for many reasons, such as being banned, not having a proper licence, or not being insured. In any case, you need to transfer the ownership of your van to someone else. Then, we should be able to get the vehicle out of the impound.
